I was born in Newport Beach, CA and, except for my college years, have lived there my entire life. The beach and ocean have always been a big part of my life, and I continue to surf and sail whenever possible. To stay near the beach, I chose to attend UC Santa Barbara where I majored in Earth System Science and did graduate work in Physical Oceanography. Before teaching I worked as a Newport Beach Lifeguard for 16 years and also a stock broker in the late 1990’s.  For a time between jobs, I worked as a substitute teacher which opened my eyes to a career in teaching.  I was still working on my credential at National University when lucked in to this incredible position at El Rancho. Beyond working at this great school with this amazing staff, the real icing on the cake was meeting my beautiful wife Michelle here.  We are expecting our first child this summer (2010).  It is still hard to believe my good luck.
